Remi - Manitoba Friendly Story

"The night before, I had left the trunk unlatched by accident - so the light stayed on and killed my battery. My dad gave me a boost, and I needed to take it out so that it didn’t die again. So I went to the gas station that is a five minute drive from my house. I got my gas, and when I tried to turn the car on it wouldn't start. My dad had given me a battery booster pack thing, so I tried to boost it myself. Doesn’t work. Then the gas station attendant comes out and says actually you can't boost here, it could spark and cause a fire.

So I'm just sitting there at the pump, cars are coming up behind me, but I can't move my car because it’s just me, I can't push the car by myself and also stop it. Then this lady beside me offers to help, and she goes to park her car. Then these two guys in a delivery truck  come over and offer to boost me. So I tell them they can't boost me at the pump, so they're like okay we’ll push your car.

Now I have never pushed a car before, so I don't know how to put it in neutral, because the car does not turn on. He explains how to do it, I'm like perfect. I get out of the car, and close the door - because it's my car, I gotta help push!

The guy goes "Mamn, you need to get in to hit the break." So I was like, “oh no…” And they had already started pushing.

So my car is rolling, and I run into the car - they’re not pushing fast, so it's not like it's a big speed chase or whatever, but I run to the car and hop in. I hit the brakes, put it back in park, and turn the car off, and thanked them for their help.

I don't know any of their names tho, because I want to reach out to their company and be like “Hey- two of your employees were super awesome and helpful to me.” I don't know the ladies name, don't know the guys name, they all just took off after my car was pushed. I was just like where are all these very nice people that just helped me? But yeah, that was the first time I had ever had to push a car, and I learned a lot of lessons from these people too,  so that was really nice.

I think people can definitely be friendly here, especially when it's this cold, when it's freezing and you need a boost or a push,  they’ll go out of their way cause it’s like “I've been there before.”
